Herefordshire Aero Club

Surrounded by beautiful countryside and close to the Welsh hills, Herefordshire Aero Club is an attraction in itself. The airfield was built in 1940 to train World War II glider pilots. Nearly two thousand were put through their paces before seeing action in major airborne operations including the D-Day Landings. Run by the Aero Club since the early 1960’s, Shobdon now boasts the only licensed airfield in Herefordshire and a plethora of attractions showcasing what an amazing leisure facility it is will be in place throughout the weekend. Why not book a trial flight? Or, if you prefer to keep your feet on the ground, watch the parachute display team in action (weather permitting) or take a walk around the static displays of modern and historic aircraft and helicopters. Alternatively, simply relax in the modern clubhouse and watch the world fly by.
